African Development Bank Group: Young Professionals Program

The Young Professionals Program (YPP) at the African Development Bank Group aims at attracting highly qualified and motivated professionals from its member countries, who are committed to African development, have demonstrated outstanding academic and professional achievement, as well as effective team work and leadership potential.

Mandela Washington Fellowship

The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, begun in 2014, is the flagship program of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. The Fellowship provides 500 outstanding young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. higher education institution with support for professional development after they return home.

United Nations Economic Commission for Africa

The programme aims to provide practical, on-the-job experience to the young professionals as they prepare either for a career in research and international development and the public sector. It will also familiarize them with the Commission’s broad programmes and services to member States and sub-regional bodies in addressing the social dimensions of Africa’s development.

African Leadership Network

ALN Ventures is a platform designed to identify the most promising entrepreneurs in Africa, and to connect them to the power of ALN: Africa’s most dynamic group of young influencers. Mentorship, investment, exclusive access to partner services—we’re looking to provide founders with everything they need to accelerate their growth. We also host half-day events and workshops in various cities around Africa, including our intensive, entertaining “Build-a-thon” sessions.

African Business Fellowship

The Africa Business Fellowship is a partnership between Econet, African Leadership Network (ALN), and Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT). The program will match young American business professionals with paid 6-month placements in African companies. Its purpose is to strengthen relationships between the African and American business communities and provide future American business leaders with the hands-on experience they need to truly understand business in Africa. We believe that by exposing high-achieving American professionals to African business at this stage in their careers, we are setting the stage for increased American-African investment and more meaningful collaboration.
