Dr. Obonyo is an Associate Professor of Engineering Design and Architectural Engineering, Architecture and Landscape and African Studies.  She is also the Director of the Global Building Network at the Penn State College of Engineering.

We sincerely thank  Dr. Obonyo for the time commitment to support this noble organization despite her hectic schedule and for the commitment to advancing the African development Agenda together with Pan-APA.

Yusuf Abolade Adeniji
President
PhD Candidate in Animal Science

Yusuf Adeniji holds a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production and Health from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and a Master of Science degree in Ruminant nutrition from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia.

Yusuf is currently a PhD candidate in the department of Animal Science, Penn State University. His research interest focuses on understanding the homeorhetic regulation of milk fat synthesis in dairy cow with an overarching goal of developing recommendations for fat feeding.

Yusuf’s vision for Pan-APA is a community that thrives and promotes cultural, social and professional development of members.

Henry I. Eya
Vice president
Ph.D. Candidate, Energy and Mineral Engineering

Henry is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at Pen State. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Metallurgical and Materials and Engineering from the University of Nigeria and a Master of Science (MSc) in Material Science and Engineering from the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, both in Nigeria. 

Henry’s research interest is in the development of novel materials for sustainable energy generation, with a particular focus on materials for affordable and eco-friendly solar cells.  

“I am highly enthusiastic about the growth of Pan-APA. I wish to introduce initiatives that will attract both old and new members and make Pan-APA known in Penn State and across. In addition, I wish to bring more fun to Pan-APA, making it a place to ease academic stress.“

Solomon Obeng-Ayirebi
General Secretary
MSc. in Architectural Engineering

Solomon Obeng-Ayirebi is Ghanaian by descent. He is currently a second year Msc. Architectural Engineering student here at Penn State. He serves on PAN-APA’s e-board as the general secretary.

Solomon has a background is cost engineering, Architectural Engineering, and finance. His duties among other things are to prepare an agenda for all meetings with the president, keep the organization informed about both organizational and university business, keep and distribute minutes for all meetings of the organization, represent the organization at all official functions, obtain official facilities for all organizational events, keep a record of all members of the organization and perform other duties as required by the president.

Mpila Nkiawete
Public Relations Officer
PhD in Energy and Mineral Engineering

Mpila is originally from Angola and has been at Penn State since 2016. He completed his undergraduate studies in 2019 with degrees in Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Energy Business & Finance. Currently, he is a 3rd year Ph.D. student in Energy and Mineral Engineering, with a focus on Fuel Science. Specially, he works on clean hydrogen production from natural gas as a way of producing more environmentally sustainable fuel.

Jason Lucas
Information Technology Officer
PhD Candidate in Information Sciences and Technology

Jason is a PhD candidate at Penn State’s College of Information Science and Technology unleashing the power of AI and NLP to tackle human and AI generated Misinformation. As a Data Science & AI researcher at the PIKE Lab under the advisement of Dr. Dongwon Lee, he delve into cutting-edge solutions to combat long-tail fake news, with a focus on interdisciplinary research. Fueled by an NSF LinDiv Research Graduate Traineeship, he bring his passion for linguistics, AI, cyber security, public health, and natural langauge processing to enhance systems such as AI-powered fake news detectors and human language technology.
